Thoughts On What We Are Truly Products Of..

          After finishing The Other Wes Moore,  he makes me believe that we are actually products of my expectations. Don’t get me wrong, I think both our environment and our expectations play a part in shaping who we are but he makes me believe that our expectations might play a bigger role. 

          Through all the hardships he faced, he still made something of himself. He did not let the negative things around him turn negative. He wanted more and expected more for himself so he made sure he got it. Wes Moore did not come from much but he made sure he found a way to obtain the life he wanted. 

I still believe that it is very difficult to separate the two. As people we can either be products of our environment or products of our expectations. Sometimes it might feel impossible to not be a product of your environment if you are not surrounding yourself with the right people who can make you forget where you are. I know that Wes Moore probably felt this way. However, I feel like if we start having higher expectations for ourselves and expressing the high expectations for the people we have around us, that would help everyone be a little better in life which is what Wes Moore did.

When people say we are products of our environment I think that translates to us just being variables of a community. This means that we are just subjects to what is around us. However, just because it's around us does not mean that is who we are. But I do think that the situations and people around us (our environment) do effect us whether it's negative or positive.

    Wow Jada, I really liked this blog a lot. I think your right separating environment and expectations is not always an easy thing to do. All too often, people just blame their lack of effort on the environment in which they are in. Many feel stuck and just succumb to the ways in which they were brought up. It is important to hold yourself to a standard that is higher that that of the environment that you are in.

    Yes I agree that we are product of our expectations we have to set high expectations for ourselves in order to grow and aim high. Without setting expectation is hard to really succeed in life. But I also believe that our environment goes hand in hand with expectation. But def agree with what you said.

    I agree with us being products of our expectations. We all work to get towards a goal in our life and we have to go through certain stages in life in order to reach them. It is a good thing to work towards your goal and to focus on what you want to do as your career as well.

    You present very good ideas and I love that you are staying firm with your belief in being products of both our expectations and our environment. You theorize well and your opinion is strong. On the other hand, you do not meet the word count (you have 285). Be sure to build on your ideas and expand in order to meet that word count and ensure that your arguments are effectively supported. Overall, nice discussion and good use of images!

    I really like the last sentence. That is 100% true, everything around us will effect an individual in a certain way whether it is negative or positive. Love the quote 2!

    Popular Culture began in the 1950's with TV, radios, rock n' roll, and carried all the way out to the present day. Pop Culture is defined as modern popular culture that is transmitted via the mass media and is normally aimed at the younger crowd. There used to be a time where only teenagers were really into phones and being on social media but times have changed.
