Making a Choice
I believe that every choice we make changes the whole line of events that will take place in the future. Anything just as simple as running an errand on a different day instead of the day you originally planned to. The results can be something like you getting stuck in traffic or something as drastic as you getting into an accident. Every choice we make affects the path that our life will take.
I can think of plenty of times when I knew a choice I made could alter my life path. Starting early, I had to make the conscious decision of who I would surround myself with. Growing up, I would always go to my cousins’ house to play because it was not really much to do where I lived. My cousins and I made friends with a few girls who lived in their neighborhood. We were all around the same age, 10-11. Young and full of life. When years passed we were still friends however these girls started to get into other things. While my cousins and I were more so into chilling and worrying about if our favorite music group would stay together, the friends we made were worried about what boy they would be linking with and fulfilling their curiosity about the effects of weed.. I never judged but that was just something I was not worried about at that age. I knew that if I continued to hang around them I would probably end up worrying about the wrong things just like them. I had to make the choice to separate myself from them.
Another decision I made that altered my life path was me transferring elementary schools. In the 6th grade I was attending McKinley Elementary located in Newark, NJ. Don’t get me wrong, I loved this school and went back to visit a lot after I left but I know I made the right decision in leaving. I ended up being accepted into my high school, Technology High School, which at that time had a new thing where they were accepting 7th and 8th graders. The school was ranked #2 in the city for academic performance so of course I wanted to be apart of that. Me getting accepted there opened so many doors for me. I feel as though I would not have been as challenged if I would have stayed at my old school. I also met some lifelong friends which I am also grateful for. I think my life would have been a lot different had I stayed at McKinley.
I think it is so important to try to make the right decisions in life. However, we can never be truly sure about what the outcomes of those decisions could be. Life is like a guessing game. Even when you think you possibly made the right decision you can never be too sure until after you see the results. We will have to make decisions for the rest of our lives, we just have to go with our gut when it’s time to make the right ones.
That was the right decision you made to continue the right path in life on switching to a different school for a better education. So keep on the excellent work on choosing your way for the better.
ReplyDeleteThis is a perfectly well written blog, and that’s great that you switched school because your choosing the right path on continuing school. Hopefully you continue to focus on your studies and end up coming out with a great career.
ReplyDeleteI think it was a good decision to switch over and start somewhere else. We all need things in life to keep our minds off of other situations and you made the right decisions.
ReplyDeleteJada,
ReplyDeleteWonderful discussion! Our decisions surely impact us, whether it be good or bad. Reading about your personal experience with decision making, it is eye opening to consider the role that the short comings of other have on our lives and the choices we make. In relation to the novel, think about this: How might the Other Wes Moore have been impacted if he made a choice to not allow the short comings of those around him impact his own life? One tip moving forward: Be sure to proofread in order to fix grammatical errors and to vary sentence structure. Overall, nice job!
Thank you for sharing I really like it making a choice to the path to our own is is always important no matter what but what we have to do is make the right decision.
